Jono Ma is a multi-instrumentalist, award winning composer, producer, mixer, musical director and Sonar Music Co-Founder.

Jono is recognised as one of Australia’s most prized composers and music producers. His long list of international artist collaborations includes writing, producing, and touring alongside Andrew Weatherall, Mark Ronson, Floating Points, Tame Impala, The Avalanches, Temper Trap, Foals, Underworld, Warpaint, Phillipe, Zdar, Cassius, The XX, Markus Dravs (Coldplay/Arcade Fire), What So Not, Flume and Four Tet.

Jono is also known for his international success as the main creative force and founding member of Jagwar Ma. His records as Jagwar Ma have been nominated for a total of eight ARIA Awards.

Jono specialises in crafting intricately produced sonic soundscapes and beats that seamlessly blend nostalgia with deep emotional resonance.

Jono Ma is anaward-winning composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, mixer and musical director, and Co-Founder of Sonar Music.


Working across film, television, advertising, records and live performance, Jono has built an internationally recognised career defined by his ability to create intricately produced sonic worlds that balance experimentation, nostalgia and emotional resonance.


His extensive list of artist collaborations includes writing, producing and touring alongside Andrew Weatherall, Mark Ronson, Floating Points, Tame Impala,The Avalanches, Foals, Underworld, Warpaint, Philippe Zdar, Cassius, The xx, Markus Dravs (Coldplay/Arcade Fire),What So Not, Flume and Four Tet.


Jono is also the founding member and creative force behind internationally acclaimed band Jagwar Ma, whose records received eight ARIA Award nominations. He has toured the world performing at Glastonbury, Coachella, Primavera, Lollapalooza, Laneway, Splendour in the Grass, Meredith and Reading & Leeds.


Jono’s award-winning composition work spans film, television and advertising, including BINGE’s acclaimed series RUN, internationally celebrated feature Animal Kingdom, Not Suitable for Children, for which he won the AACTA Award for Best Original Music Score, and Netflix documentary Machine. His commercial work is equally far-reaching, composing for major international campaigns for Nike, Qantas, CBA, Crown, Levi’s, Telstra and Samsung.


Jono produced Flight Facilities’ album FOREVER, served as Musical Director and producer for Genesis Owusu during his ARIA Album of the Year-winning era, and has been writing and producing with Matt Corby, Vera Blue and The Avalanches.


His work alsoextends into large-scale live music and cultural projects, including VIVID Sydney and performances and installations for global brands including Chanel, Cartier and Gucci.


In 2025, Jono composed and produced the Sydney New Year’s Eve Midnight Fireworks soundtrack, creating a 12-minute score broadcast to millions around the world.
